Emigrirajući iz Evrope posle Drugog svetskog rata, vizionarski arhitekta, Laslo Tot (Adrijen Brodi), dolazi u Ameriku, kako bi ponovo izgradio svoj život, profesiju i bio sa suprugom, Eržebet (Felisiti Džouns), od koje je tokom rata bio razdvojen, usled promena granica i režima. Sam, u tuđoj, čudnoj zemlji, Laslo se nastanjuje u Pensilvaniju, gde bogati industrijalac, Harison Li van Bjuren (Gaj Pirs), prepoznaje njegov talenat. Ali moć i nasleđe imaju i ogromnu cenu.

Film BRUTALISTA nakon 10 nominacija za Oskara i osvojena tri Zlatna globusa, za najbolji film, najbolju režiju (Brejdi Korbet) i za najboljeg glavnog glumca (Adrijen Brodi), mnogi nazivaju kinematografskim događajem godine.
